5 A DAY

17/2/2014

On Monday 9th February we started doing a warm up dance on the computer called 5 a Day. Its excercise for five minutes a day. We have done it at least once every day since we started. On the first day we did it quite a lot. The first one we picked was Football because we did a vote and it was the most popular. The second one we did was Street Dance and it was the hardest one we did.On Wednesday in assembly all of the school did it .

Under each one it has some stars, 5 stars means it would be really hard and if it had 1 star it would be easy. The Street Dance one had 5 stars! Everyone really enjoyed doing it though. We had a free trial at first but now Mrs Peters has said we can buy it. The whole school are so happy!

A Visit from THE OSPREYS!

On February 11th we had an amazing visit from the terrific Osprey players.
We had Ross Jones and Dimitri . We learnt loads of cool facts about them.
Dimitri started playing at the age 15 but Ross started at age 8!
Their inspirations were Brian O'Driscol, James Hook and Adam Jones.
They also told us that the hardest teams were Munster,Lienster and Toulouse. We found out their rota for Monday: they had a  forwards meeting, then a weights session, and finally moves, skills and training. The backs did it the other way around with a backs meeting later. Ross also told us playing sport was the best part along with playing with mates not just the team. Then we found out that MFL meant 'Mates For Life'
Thank you for reading.

We are hoping to go to The Harry Potter Studios later on this year. Sadly it costs a lot to get there so we are trying to raise money to make it cheaper to that all of year 5 and 6 can go. We have all written letters to try to get local companies to help. We want help to get food to sell in a disco and prizes for a raffle.

On Friday  the Co-op came into school to bring us some food. The things that the co-op gave us were a few bags of crisp, sweets, and 5 boxes of drinks and 5 tins of hot dogs. The staff that came in to our school there names were Vicki and Keith.

Next Chilli Too got back to us and they have told Mrs Peters, the head teacher, that in the raffle they will be giving a prize of a meal for two, and some lolly pops!!!

Keep Driving got back to us to and have offered us a prize of a voucher that entitles you to a car service up to £100!

A company called Andy Adams wrote back to us saying that we have something off them for the raffle which again was another voucher for a whole days gardening, painting and Decorating, house clearance and many more things.

Taylors which also is another company, has donated an MOT! That is worth £45!!!

Tiamo have donated a prize too, we are are waiting to find out what it is so watch this space.

We are still waiting to hear back from lots of places. If you would like to donate a prize please let us know. Tickets on sale soon!

BBC2 500 Words Competition

This week in Class we have been writing our stories for BBC 2 500 Words Story Challenge. We made all sorts of stories from  fantasy and romance to magic and scary.

We watched the live BBC Radio 2 programme on the computers in class. Chris Evans  and Frank Cottrel Boyce were our inspiration. Frank Cottrel Boyce said a quote which read  " let the pen flow",and so that is all we did. We normally plan our stories  but we went with the idea of just writing.

So we wrote for a lesson and another lesson and then one more lesson , then finally everyone had finished. It was fun. I think we all enjoyed doing our stories because it was our story, we could make it  personal or as crazy as we liked.

We all created a story that WE  liked! A story that suited US! And with only help with our spelling we all made marvelous stories.

Thank you Frank Cottrel Boyce, Chris Evens and especially the teachers. Let's hope somebody from our school wins!
