On Thursday 24 October Clydach Primary had a Halloween Discos. The whole junior department wrapped the teachers in toilet roll to be mummies. Mrs Bennett and Mrs Morgans won the competition. Then we all danced to our  favourite songs and we all had a good time.

In the middle of the Disco we all played  arches, the girls made an arch first.

All the children in the primary school dressed  very very scary and there was a hot dog and sweet cart and a lot of girls were chasing the boys.

We all bought some sweets. The Halloween disco was amazing, everyone had a blast of a time. Nobody wanted to go home but when they left they all had a smile on their faces.

On Wednesday 16th October year 5 and 6 went to Swansea  Museum and the Dylan Thomas Theatre . First we got on the bus I was sitting by Katie . I was really happy .

We got off the bus in Swansea then we to Swansea museum in the museum. We sat in a room and a man told us about World War 2. We did some fun activities like  dressing up , then we went to look in this suitcase that belonged to an evacuee called Bubble (we looked at  some very old clothes and some letters from his diary) . Then we went over to the map of south wales we learnt  some interesting facts on World War 2 .

Before we had lunch, we went to the waterfront museum. We went in this room with this man,  he was telling us what to do . We swapped tables and do different actives like war games ,women and war , ration fashion , and some more

Next we had some lunch and I had ham  sandwiches ,  strawberry yoghurt , cheese string and lovely cheese and onion crisps and beautiful  squash .We had lunch at about 12.15 .

After that we went to Dylan Thomas Theatre, it was about 1.00 when we got there . The play was called ' Halt Who Goes  There'. I was sitting in the front on the first seat I was really scared at first but when the play started it was fine. I liked the other play that we went to see last yer the best because it was more scary. I ate lots of sweets during the show.

Finally we came back to the bus. we saw loads of boats on the way back then we were outside the bus and there were loads of puddles when we got on the bus we saw people playing instruments then the other class were singing songs we got off the bus at 2.45 then we went home .

Make a Mate Feel Great Day

In school we celebrated 'make a  mate feel great day'.On strips of paper Mrs Morgans put everyone's name and we had to Secretly pick one.Throughout the day we had to make that person who we picked out feel great.Make a mate feel great day is an idea thought of by the anti-bullying Ambassadors. The junior department had to pick out names on a piece of paper and the infants they had to just make each other feel great.

On this special occasion even the staff joined in and Mrs Joseph made cakes to make her mates feel great too!

On make a mate feel great day you could say "I like like your t-shirt" or something like that or you could also say "I like your hair". You could even go to the cinema with a friend (we read that someone took a day off work to celebrate the day at the cinema with a mate).

We went down to the hall to watch a birds of prey. We saw owls, a hawk, and lots more. The birds were amazing! They listened to everything the man said. He said that they have grabbed rats, rabbits and even that they have caught a fox and voles. We took loads of pictures. Most of the teachers and teaching assistant held these fantastic birds. The birds were well trained and they were very exiting.

A Visit from Swansea Archive Service

1/10/2013

We have had special visitors - Swansea Archive Service. They came for one lesson and brought things in; they brought in Victorian maps, census, photographs and paintings. They also brought parchment to look at. Most people said that it was different to normal paper. We found out that the stamp at the bottom was made of wax. The sheet went around the class and once it had gone all the way around the lady spoke and said that the paper in the Victorian times was really made of animal skin,  goat, pig and sheep!

We saw pictures and drawings of the Victorians and the rich and poor. We also saw maps of where the poor and rich were living. We found out that there was more poor people than there is of rich. Rich people lived in big houses with lots of servants and poor people lived in small houses. We found out that you could fit 6 poor people's houses in just the library at Margam Park!

It must have been a hard life to be poor during the Victorian times.
