On Thursday Mr Henry (one of our governors) who is a part of The Swansea Canal Society came in and talked to us about canals. First of all he gave us pick up sticks to collect rubbish to show us how people help clean up the canal.
Mr Henry told us that a mans best friend is a horse and that men and horses pulled the canal boats full of coal. Mr Henry wanted to show us how hard it was to pull lots of canal barges so used skateboards to help us understand. He first put one of the boys on a skateboard and then picked two girls to sit on the skateboards. Next, he picked two more girls to pull them. We were all really laughing because it was so funny. Teah said that she has been in a canal boat while the gates were opening so he asked teah to demonstrate how the gates worked. She didn't demonstrate it very well but it was really funny. Mr Henry showed us lots of pictures of canals around the country and we learnt that these days they are used for cycling, kayaking, fishing and wildlife. We really enjoyed the visit and hope that Mr Henry comes in again. by kasey and teah

to find out some information about that planet on the internet and in books. I did Mercury and my friend did Mars. We are making a magazine about the planets to put on our website. By Elliot and Brendon Yesterday we found out that we had a visitor coming in, but we didn't know who it was. All we knew was that they were going to help us with our Welsh lesson, we were all so exited to meet them. At first we all had to put our heads on the desk and shut our eyes so it would be a surprise, when we opened our eyes we all laughed. It was Ben dressed up as an alian! Even the teachers were laughing.
We had to ask him questions in Welsh, it was really funny when someone asked him where he lives, he said that he lived in Venus and it was evan funnier when he revealed his age, he said he was 1000 years old! Everybody was laughing (teachers too). These are some of the questions we asked... Beth ydy dy enw di? Spudmick dw i. Ble wyt ti'n byw? Dw i'n byw yn Venus. Beth wyt ti'n hoffi bwyta? Dw i'n hoffi bwyta trychfilod. Beth wyt ti'n hoffi wneud? Dw i'n hoffi wneud teithio. Beth wyt ti'n hoffi casau? Dw i'n hoffi casau pobl. Beth wyt ti'n dwlu ar? Dw i'n dwlu ar sgipio. I really enjoyed the "visit" and so did everyone else. By Chelsea. Yesterday, 17th November, 5m went orienteering in Coed Gwilym Park. When we got there we were all tired because we had to rush from school. First, we had to listen to what Aaron, Angharad and Adam had to say. They taught us how to use the map and we had a game. We had to get into pairs and one of us had to hide a picture and show the other person where on the map they hid it. The other person then had to find it using the map.
Next we got into groups and had to start the orienteering. We had to look for numbers around the park using a map (we also had a whistle and scoresheet),we weren't allowed to go to number 7 and 10 because there were muddy puddles there. Our team team went to number 7 accidentaly so some of us slipped in the mud!!! When we got back to the start Adam told us who won, it was the Rubber Duckies. We really had lots of fun and only three people slipped in the mud. Finally we left the park and had a long way to go all the way back to school. On the way back all of our feet were hurting but it was still really fun. On the way my friend called my teacher, my teacher turned around to see who called her and BUMP! She walked right in to the wall, she did heart herself a bit but she was fine. We all had a good time andall of us would like to go again soon! 1. Playing rugby

By Chloe P, Rachel and Chelsea Yesterday Mrs Lloyd Jones came in to our class, she is our friend Teah's grandmother. She came to talk about how it used to be in Clydach Junior School during World War II . She told us about when the evacuees came to Clydach Junior School. We found out that when the evacuees came it was so packed in the classes sometimes you had to sit on the windowstill.
We also found out that the children from Clydach Junior School had to go to other peoples houses across the road to hide from the bombs (when the air raid siren went off). Mrs Lloyd-Jones told us that during dinner the children had to go home and have dinner and had to come back to school. We really enjoyed mrs Lloyd Jones telling us more about World War 2.
